I am a Vine reviewer, and really put a lot of effort into testing the products that Amazon sends me. This was no exception.

Upon receipt, this seemed utterly fantastic. It was boxed in a secure, fun way, and their marketing department did a great job of building the enthusiasm with color and design.

The unit itself looks great. The color-changeable LED lighting is tricked out and can be a lot of fun.

The preloaded patterns are simple, but Dremel is trying, I assume, to give you entry-level projects to get your feet wet with. More on this in a minute.

I need to preface the rest of this review with the fact that a good friend of mine is an engineer at JPL and uses 3D modeling printers daily, both in professional and personal life. I asked him to help me with this review, so you, the Amazon customer, can have a more wide knowledge-base from which to decide on your purchase.

The first thing we did was to print a test print--the preloaded frog. It was a lot of fun--rather magical--to see. It didn't come out perfect, but I chalked that up to user error.
Onto the next...I did the preloaded pencil holder. Again, this was going to require a lot of sanding to make smooth--and there were some areas that didn't seem quite solid. (See pictures)

After the first two prints, I started having trouble with the filament extrusions not sticking to the supplied Dremel sticker surface (supposedly good for 80 uses). The jobs were coming up, sticking to the extruder, and creating a HUGE mess. I ended up with quite the pile of wasted filament. At 30 bucks a roll (more on this later), that can add up quickly
